what i think this quote is trying to say that is if you know that you have done something bad just tell the truth because if you do tell the truth then you look less irresponsible so it is better yo tell the truth. for example if you get caught breaking something then it is better to tell what actually happened because if you don't then they just find out you lie more and more and just make it worse. so it is always better to tell the truth when you are in a potions that can get you into trouble.
