what i think this quote is trying to say is that when you do good stuff in your life it help you be better and it helps u build your way . for example if you help people and u don't cuss and you don't hurt people you not only dose it make you look good people will like to have you around and and that will make you feel better about yourself. but if you do bad thing u are just losing your way to the top because people are not going to want you around because you may hurt them and lie to them and people don't want that .so it is always better to just be nice person to end up on top
